At the south of the old center it is located the district of the museums of Antwerp: South. The South contains a number of museums, building in new art and traditional monuments like "Het Zuiderpershuis" very interesting. The district is worth like pride of the town of Antwerp, which invested in 1999 an amount of 80 million in the district. In the middle of the years the ' 80 surroundings around Vlaamse and Waalse Kaai were a district of the degraded port and the old houses of Master and the hangars of the port around the "Musé of Beautiful Arts" were uninhabited. The development started since the last years. The best galleries of art, houses of the mode and restaurants connected make increase the prices of hiring and sale. The new inhabitants settle in general in renovated warehouses. The reversal occurred in 1985 and 1987 at the time of the arrival of the "Musé de Photographie" and the "Musé of the Modern arts" in old cargo warehouses. The history of the South starts in 1885 and 1894 when there were exposures of the world. The "Musé of Beautiful Arts" gives in 1890 to the district with its broad avenues and of the round places à.la.mode of Paris a glance of scale. The Temple of Rubens by Winders architects and van Dijck was emphasized in a marvellous way at the time of the refitting of the Place Léopold de Wael in 1999. The statues on the bases in front of musé are of Rodin. .

Wegbeschrijving vanuit richting Gent:
U komt via de E17 op de ring van Antwerpen (R1), en volgt deze, u rijdt dan door de Kennedytunnel heen.In de Kennedytunnel volgt u de richting Berchem (Antwerpen-centrum voert u naar de Leien, die momenteel opgebroken zijn) en neemt u de eerste afslag zodra u de tunnel verlaat. Op het einde van de afrit draait u links de Binnensingel op. U volgt de Binnensingel in de richting Schelde tot u aan de linkerkant de werf van het nieuwe Justitiepaleis passeert. Daarna neemt U de derde straat rechts, net voor het grote plein van de Vlaamse en Waalse Kaai.

Wegbeschrijving vanuit de richtingen richting Breda, Turnhout, Hasselt en Brussel:
U komt op de ring van Antwerpen (R1), u volgt deze in de richting van Gent (E17) U neemt de laatste afslag vóór de Kennedytunnel, nummer 5A. "Schelde-Hoboken" Aan het einde draait u naar links, de Binnensingel op. U volgt de Binnensingel in de richting Schelde tot u aan de linkerkant de werf van het nieuwe Justitiepaleis passeert. Daarna neemt U de derde straat rechts, net voor het grote plein van de Vlaamse en Waalse Kaai. (Stel dat u verloren rijdt op de Binnensingel, zorg dan dat u richting de rode zone rijdt)
